As snow covers the Upstate, Midlands and portions of the Lowcountry, closer to the coast, ice and freezing rain continues to fall. The freezing rain continues to fall on the coast as some residents experience power outages and the trees begin to weigh down from the ice. However, South Carolina Department of Transportation officials have reopened the main bridges in the Charleston area that were closed earlier due to the severe ice.
SCE&G is reporting about 145 power outages in Charleston county. There were 47 accidents in the Lowcountry earlier this morning. Winter weather conditions are expected to continue throughout the night through Tuesday afternoon.
No word on closures or information concerning tomorrow for the Lowcountry area.
