“I don’t think the Senators will mind my saying that it’s like herding cats.” That is how South Carolina’s new Lt. Gov. Ken Ard describes presiding over the Senate. It’s one of his two major duties as the state’s second-highest elected official. The other is overseeing the SC Office on Aging.
In an interview with SCRN’s Ashley Byrd, he discussed getting underway with both. With the Senate, he says his practice at the rostrum before the session paid off. He also says he understands why the Senate “moves at a snail’s pace…because we need to get it right.”
