First Lady Michelle Obama is bringing her fight for fitness to the Palmetto State.
The White House announced Friday that the first lady will spend Thursday at Fort Jackson and participate in a briefing about the lack of exercise and the consequences of obesity and poor nutrition during childhood.
Michelle Obama last visited South Carolina in January 2008 just before the presidential primary. She also made a campaign stop in Columbia with Oprah Winfrey in December 2007 that drew more than 30,000 people to the University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice Stadium.
The White House said Michelle Obama also will tour the Army post. That includes a stop at Fort Jackson’s “Go Green” food service program that encourages healthy eating.
