The Rock Hill City Council on Monday night unanimously passed the first reading of an ordinance to ban K2 and other synthetic marijuana products.
K2 is also being discussed for a possible nationwide ban.
Jane Alleva of the York County All on Board initiative addressed the council on the recent rise in the use of the product that was created back in the mid 1990s. Alleva talked about some of the health problems seen in York County.
Despite a Federal Drug Enforcement Administration move to ban K-2 back in November, the new regulations are taking longer than expected to write and publish.
