A Charleston man wanted for shooting his ex-mother-in-law over the weekend, has now shot his ex-wife and turned the gun on himself. Ronald Daniel Ratliff was accused of shooting his former mother-in-law over the weekend at a house in Charleston. Tuesday afternoon, Ratliff returned to that house and wounded his ex-wife, then turned the gun on himself.
Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten says Ratliff’s body was found Tuesday in the home’s attic. The coroner said he died from self-inflicted wounds. Charleston County deputies had been looking for Ratliff after they heard he returned the home Tuesday. Deputies were reportedly with family members when Ratliff fired shots at his ex-wife, Melissity Hayes. Hayes apparently ran to a nearby post office after being shot. She has since been treated and released. Ratliff was recently released from jail on criminal domestic violence charges.
