A bomb scare Tuesday resulted in the evacuation of the Conway Social Security Administration building. However, a suspicious package discovered in the building was later determined to contain only papers.
Catina Hipp, spokeswoman for the Conway Police Department, said the security officer contacted police at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday after he discovered the package. Hipp said that officers arrived on scene. The fire department responded as well.
The Fire Department chose to evacuate the building at 1:00 p.m. Horry County bomb squad was also called in to assist and they have used their robot and dog to go in and examine the package and have taken x-ray of the package with the machine.
According to WMBF television this was the second time in two days the Horry County Bomb Squad had been contacted. They were called on Monday when a small explosion was heard at the Horry County Recycling Center in Socastee. In that investigation officers found a homemade device inside one of the dumpsters.
