Construction for a new factory in Laurens County is underway. ZF Transmissions hopes to hire about 900 workers by 2015. President and CEO Lugar Reckmann spoke at the groundbreaking Wednesday morning.
This is a very exciting day for us. We planned over years to make this plant a reality. With the groundbreaking today, it’s a symbol that we are there. We have a long way to go, but it’s the best start we can have.
Also on hand for the ceremony was Governor Nikki Haley
ZF is a German auto parts manufacturer that has expanded into 16 facilities in North America. The Laurens plant is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
