Family and friends said goodbye as another round of support troops headed to Afghanistan.
Members of the South Carolina Army National Guard’s 742nd Support Maintenance Company said goodbye to family and friends Friday morning at the National Guard Armory in Columbia. Headquartered at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, the company will deploy to Afghanistan for one year.
The 742nd leaves for Fort Hood, Texas on Sunday for one month of final pre-deployment training before a March departure to Afghanistan.
The company of more than 120 soldiers maintains vehicles, small arms, and electronics equipment.
