A Delta commercial airliner was forced to return to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Monday afternoon after smoke was reported in the cockpit shortly after takeoff. The plane landed safely and none of the 39 passengers were injured.

Flight 4018 was headed to Detroit.
The runway was closed for about 30 minutes after the incident. The cause of the smoke is under investigation.
