Military veterans from across South Carolina will get an opportunity to get answers about their most pressing questions on their benefits Friday.
Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) will host the Sixth District Veterans Forum at the Santee Conference Center in Orangeburg County. Clyburn says, because he has heard from veterans from all over the state, he is opening up the forum to veterans not only in the Sixth District, but those from elsewhere in South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. Clyburn says he has received complaints from veterans about getting the run-around and red tape in their attempt to get answers about their benefits.
Keith Thompson, Southern Area Director of the U.S. Veterans Benefits Administration, will be available at the forum, along with local VA officials.
Clyburn says with the debate over massive cuts in the budget continuing on Capitol Hill, veterans have expressed concern about the possibility of losing benefits.
Registration for the March 18 forum begins at 9:30 am. The program will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm.
