After Monday’s Cabinet meeting, Gov. Nikki Haley answered questions about her replacement of billionaire Darla Moore on the USC Board of Trustees. Haley stands by her decision. She says Moore’s decision soon after to pledge $5 million for a new USC aerospace center is generous. Yet Haley, like her Commerce Director Bobby Hitt, says plans for such a center are “premature.”
Moore has asked that the state match her pledge. Legislators say that is not likely. However, Rep. Chip Limehouse (R-Charleston), whose district will benefit greatly from the Boeing expansion, hopes the Center comes to fruition.
