Fourteen gang members were arrested in Charleston on a 37-count indictment. The City of Charleston Police Department, along with other state and federal agencies, made the arrests of 14 individuals allegedly involved in a criminal street gang.
US Attorney Bill Nettles says the indictment alleges the gang members conspired to distribute more than 280 grams of crack, more than 100 grams of heroin and marijuana, found in various Charleston locations. The gang members were arraigned in federal court Monday for manufacturing and distributing the drugs.
If convicted, all defendants face an enhanced 10-year federal sentence for their memberships in a street gang, and eight members face life, without parole.
