Job applications are being taken Monday at a facility that will give a much-needed economic boost to Clarendon County.
Georgia-Pacific is set to begin taking job applications for positions when it completes a new facility outside the small community of Alcolu. In a company press release, the company announced it will hire about 150 employees for its new plant which is entering its final construction phase and should begin production in December.
The plant will be hiring workers for production as well as persons on the line as engineers and management.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia-Pacific employs more than 400,000 people at more than 300 locations in North and South America and Europe. The company currently has seven facilities in South Carolina that manufacture Dixie products, corrugated packaging, thermosetting resins and building products, in addition to a wood and fiber supply office in Prosperity.
