Former Republican State Senator Greg Gregory is heading back to Columbia. Gregory defeated Democrat Keith Brann and Liberterian Stan Smith in the District 16 special election Tuesday by picking up 77 percent of the vote. Gregory wins the seat vacated by Republican U.S. Representative Mick Mulvaney. Brann picked up 18 percent of the vote while Smith earned 5 percent.
Gregory is wasting no time getting to work as he has a 10 a.m. meeting today. He held the seat for 16 years before retiring in 2008.
