Charleston Mayor Joe Riley says President Obama is demonstrating great leadership after announcing proposals to tackle long-term deficits. The Obama Administration this week released a proposal that attempts to tackle the country’s long-term deficit spending. Mayor Riley, after hearing from the president, says he believes Obama is displaying the leadership the country needs to lead America to long-term prosperity. Riley says he agrees with the president in protecting the working families and the less fortunate.
The president is embracing some of the recommendations made by Bowles-Simpson Fiscal Commission, a bipartisan commission formed last year to find ways to reduce the national debt. Riley says the federal government needs to remain focused on education, healthcare and infrastructure.
