The FBI has completed its investigation into the former mayor of James Island, Mary Clark. The FBI says they conducted interviews on the possible misuse of town funds by Clark, but they found no violations in the investigation. Clark says she is upset by the investigation of her use of town funds in her last months in office, she says she has done no wrong.
The investigation included a look at mid-2010 records that show five $1,000 checks written to the Sea Islands Chamber of Commerce. The newly elected mayor of James Island, Bill Woolsey, asked for the investigation after he took office on September 1 last year.
SLED was also conducting an investigation into Clark, but no word if a decision has been reached.
