Former James Island Mayor Mary Clark has no violations against her, according to the FBI’s investigation into her use of town funds. However, Clark’s attorney says it’s not over. The FBI has completed the investigation into five $1,000 checks written to the Sea Island Chamber of Commerce in Clark’s last months in office. The man who beat Clark in an August election last year, Bill Woolsey, called for the FBI and SLED investigations. Clark’s lawyer, John Graham Altman, says the FBI may be done, but there’s more to come.
We’re not through with this yet. The government is through. Mayor Woolsey and his crowd just wanted to try and hurt Mary Clark and they did. On the front page of the paper, the television: She’s a crook, she’s a thief. I knew and most people knew that she had done nothing wrong.
Altman says it’s going to be Woolsey the citizens of James Island will start to point their fingers to.
They’re great people over on James Island. I represented James Island for 30 straight years and I know the people. I have a lot of friends there and family there and they are about to be concerned over what government they have over there now.
After conducting interviews on the possible misuse of funds, the FBI concluded it found no violations.
