Charleston Mayor Joe Riley spent Monday kicking off his tenth campaign for mayor. If re-elected, Mayor Riley, Democrat, would have the opportunity to serve the city of Charleston for 40 years.
I approach every day of my service as mayor not thinking of how long I’ve been doing it, but thinking of the work to do that day or that week or for the next year, and there are so many things to work on.
And those things–
From working hard with our school district to improve our children’s education, to making sure we continue to attract new high paying jobs, information technology, new economy.
Riley began his tenth re-election campaign in Charleston Monday. He faces Charleston author and historian David Farrow in next year’s election. Riley is the longest serving mayor in Charleston’s history.
