Real estate tycoon Donald Trump is scheduled to be in Columbia this month.
The Columbia TEA Party announced that Trump will be in the capital city as the keynote speaker for their bi-monthly meeting on Thursday, May 19, 6 to 8 p.m. The event has been moved to the north steps of the South Carolina Statehouse grounds to accommodate what they are anticipating to be a large crowd.
Allen Olson, Chairman of the Columbia TEA Party says that while the party does not endorse candidates, he is “excited to hear Donald Trump speak.”
Trump is known worldwide as a successful businessman and TV personality who is actively considering a run for president.
The Columbia TEA Party will also be giving what it calls “Roll Call Champion” awards for people who helped pass mandatory roll call voting in the General Assembly: Governor Nikki Haley, Rep. Nathan Ballentine, Sen. Larry Martin, Sen. Harvey Peeler, Jr., Ashley Landess, Talbert Black, Jr.
