Whether you’re pickin’ or peelin’ the Lowcountry is ready for a big weekend– and it isn’t just for mothers. With a pie-eating contest, recipe contest, live bands, rides, and a field of nothing but strawberries for you to pick yourself–the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt.Pleasant is this weekend. The festival, open from 10am – 6pm Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday, is one of the most well-known spring festivals in the state.
If you don’t feel like pickin’, you can head up the road just a little bit to McClellanville and be a part of the Lowcountry Shrimp Festival. This 35th annual festival is surrounding the Blessing of the Fleet and has live entertainment all day. It sticks to its roots and symbolizes the Lowcountry’s southern charm with art, food and entertainment. The shrimp festival is open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday.
