U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is speaking today to University of South Carolina graduates. This weekend, the University of South Carolina will award 4,866 degrees to graduates. One of the guest speakers at today’s commencement ceremony, Justice Sotomayor, will receive an honorary degree of doctor of laws. Sotomayor, the first Hispanic justice and the third woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court, will deliver her speech at 3 p.m.
Due to the size of the school, ceremonies are split over the weekend. Sotomayor will speak today to graduates of the Darla Moore School of Business, College of Mass Communications and Information Studies, College of Nursing, South Carolina College of Pharmacy and the Arnold School of Public Health.
