The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting on Thursday, May 26 to discuss their assessment of the 2010 safety performance at the V.C. Summer nuclear power plant. The plant, which is located in Jenkinsville about 25 miles northwest of Columbia is operated by SCE&G.
The commission found that all NRC safety objectives were met by the Summer plant during the last year which will allow the plant to receive detailed baseline NRC inspections in 2011. In addition, operator licensing examinations are being conducted this year.
Members of the NRC will be available to answer the public’s questions. The meeting is being held in the McCrorey-Liston Elementary School in Blair from 5 to 7 p.m.
