A part of the World Trade Center made its way to the coast of South Carolina for a special presentation on Wednesday. A portion of a beam was presented to Myrtle Beach officials by New York City firefighters as part of the events surrounding the annual Fire Department of New York 9/11 Memorial Golf Tournament.
The Myrtle Beach area golf courses have put on the event every year since the attack. More than 800 firefighters from 15 states and Canada are taking part in the tournament, which is going on this week through Thursday.
Representatives of the tourism community received a part of the beam just prior to the 10th anniversary of the attack on the twin towers.
