It’s an American holiday–a day to have off work and maybe light up the grill, but at the same time, it’s a national day to remember those Americans who have made a sacrifice for the rest of us. Services are being held across the state today to honor veterans and remember those who have lost their lives in military service.
Today Ft. Jackson will honor service men and women with a wreath laid at the Andrew Jackson monument near the base’s main gate. During the ceremony, soldiers will dress in old-style uniforms and present a 21-gun salute during a presentation of the military colors.
In Myrtle Beach, Arizona Senator John McCain is leading the Memorial Day Parade down Ocean Boulevard. Over the weekend, McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham spoke to veterans at the Little River Welcome Home Center and the Honor Flight to commend the work they do for veterans.
