The state’s first inspector general will not be taking office. George Schroeder, whom Haley appointed by executive order quietly resigned six weeks ago. He told the Associated Press that things “just didn’t work out.”
Schroeder said he resigned because he was having some difficulty in figuring how to get staffing ideas and other things the governor’s office thought could be done under executive order without having the authority of state law.
Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey says they’re interviewing candidates for his replacement.
