A former resident of the Columbia-based Restitution Center pled guilty in federal court Thursday to one count of bank fraud. 31 Year old Crystal Bric schemed to steal more than $300,000 from a bank account owned by the South Carolina Department of Probation, Pardon, and Parole Board. Using a checked from the agency, Bric obtained the bank account number and routing number. She used the account number to pay her rent, her utilities, and for cell phones for herself and others from December 2007 through October of 2009. In total, Bric stole approximately $338,000 in state funds from the bank account. Bric faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
