The Senate is back in, and President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell has submitted Gov. Nikki Haley’s bill to create a Department of Administration. But, but by procedure, it now goes to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
McConnell, the highest ranking senator, did not have the votes to simply tack the bill onto the agenda.
Governor Haley says she has hopes that the Senate will do what she wants. Today, she reiterated that she “has a lot of faith that the Legislature will do the right thing and a lot a faith in the fact that they won’t hold one piece of legislation hostage in order to get another.”
But that may happen. Democrats have said they may block the bill being added to the agenda, because an early-voting measure got stalled in the House.
