A Canadian golfing magazine and other Canadian media report that RBC Bank will be the new sponsor of the Heritage Golf tournament in Hilton Head. Other sponsors may be announced today.
Score Golf reports the event will be called the RBC Heritage Classic, and will be played the week following the Masters.
Governor Nikki Haley will make the official announcement at 1:00 p.m. today at Harbour Town in Hilton Head.
She mandated that the first order of business for new SC Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Duane Parrish was to land a new sponsor. The tournament, formerly underwritten by Verizon, went without a sponsor this season.
Jim Little, RBC’s chief brand and communications officer told Score Golf, “It was a few months of hard negotiating but we got it done.”
RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) is an active sponsor of PGA events and tour players.
