Federal prosecutors announced Stanley Chester Weber, 33, of North, was sentenced Thursday in federal court to one year and one day in prison for threatening President Barack Obama. U.S. District Judge Margaret B. Seymour also ordered that Weber undergo psychiatric and substance abuse treatment.
Authorities said a federal call center in Florida received a call in September. The male caller told the operator, “I’m going to shoot and kill the President and what are you going to do about it?” Five minutes later, the man called back and repeated the threat. The center traced the call back to Weber’s address. Later that day, Secret Service agents traveled to his house and interviewed him.
Weber originally denied making the call, but admitted to it when the agents returned the next day. He said “It was stupid,” and authorities believe he may have been influenced by alcohol. The agents also seized a gun on his property
