Personnel from the Charleston Air Force Base are spending this holiday weekend on a worthwhile mission. Reservists are on a special humanitarian mission this weekend to bring thousands of pounds of rice to the still earthquake-ravaged nation of Haiti. Members of the 315th Airlift Wing out of Charleston are helping more than 10,000 people in Haiti–targeting children. One of the members flying out–Airlift Commander Jeffery Smith.
We know there’s a direct impact helping the orphanages, helping to get this rice down to the folks who need it. We know Haiti is still suffering after the earthquake.
Smith spoke with ABC-News 4 in Charleston.
