A string of house fires in Charleston have police and fire officials investigating a possible serial arsonist. Charleston police and fire officials are meeting once a week to discuss information they each collect on their investigations into the recent fires in downtown Charleston.
In the past 10 days alone there have been four fires in Charleston, two of which were intentionally set, while the other two are still under investigation. Investigators say the fires have started in or near house porches in the middle of the night in homes occupied with college-age residents.
None of the fires are confirmed connected, but officials are just looking into a possible serial arsonist because of the similarities between the blazes.
