Former Utah Governor and Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman will be in the Upstate tonight. Huntsman will be the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for the Greenville and Spartanburg Republican parties. The event will be at 7pm at Mutts Barbecue in Greer. It’s Huntsman’s second trip to the state since he officially announced his run for the presidency at the end of June.
Meanwhile, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will be in Charleston Tuesday and Wednesday. Gingrich has hit quite a few bumps in his campaign since he was last in the Lowcountry in April. Most of his top South Carolina advisers left his team last month. Gingrich will speak in a town Hall hosted by the Charleston Tea Party at North Charleston’s city hall. He also plans to speak at an electric co-op event at the Charleston Place Hotel on the peninsula.
Horry County Republicans will get to “meet and greet” former Senator Rick Santorum at a party fundraiser on Tuesday evening, at “Sidewheeler” on the Waccamaw River in Conway.
