Nearly 300 passengers on board a Delta flight headed to Atlanta were stranded in the Upstate for hours yesterday after the plane was forced to divert to GSP Airport because of the weather.
Then the flight suffered damage. Airport officials said Delta flight 115 from Barcelona landed safely, but as it was trying to park, a Delta representative said the right wing was damaged.
The plane hit a light pole, according to Tom Conroy, who was on the flight with his son.
“All of a sudden, you heard a big, sharp noise. And actually my son looked out the window and saw the pole being knocked down by the plane,” he reported this morning.
No one was injured, but passengers had to get off the plane and make other travel arrangements.
