Spartanburg County Council meets tonight to vote on tax incentives for Fehrer Automotive, a German-based company currently located in Fountain Inn that supplies seat cushions to BMW. Fehrer is planning to expand its facilities to a new building in the county.
Governor Nikki Haley took a tour of BMW’s manufacturing plant in Greer last Friday. During the visit, she said the state will do what it can to help BMW and its suppliers grow. She said, “When they start to think about times of expanding, we are a big support for them.”
After touring the plant Haley had good things to say about BMW and why companies like it are good for the South Carolina. She said, “They are getting a car off the lines every minute. They are producing 1000 cars a day.”
Haley talked about the importance of getting new companies to come to the state of South Carolina. She also said it was essential to take care of companies that have been around for awhile, like BMW.
Along with Fehrer and other suppliers, BMW also has plans to expand its facilities as well.
