Eleanor Kitzman’s term in charge of the state’s administrative agency only lasted a few months.
Kitzman stepped down from her position as Executive Director of the Budget and Control Board to take a job in Texas. Texas Governor Rick Perry announced her appointment Wednesday. She will serve as that state’s Commissioner of Insurance.
She had previously served as Director of South Carolina’s Department of Insurance under former Governor Mark Sanford from 2005-07, before resigning due to a dispute with Sanford. Prior to that, she was a clerk for the Texas Supreme Court.
She also ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor last year.
Governor Nikki Haley appointed Kitzman to the board in January, after previous director Frank Fusco resigned. The Governor’s Office confirmed Wednesday that Kitzman had stepped down.
