The city of Charleston is holding an open house today for James Island residents to consider annexing into the city. Charleston won a court battle against James Island–denying James Island’s third attempt at incorporating as a town of its own.
Now, Charleston is hosting an open house for James Island residents to field questions to city staff members and police officers. At the meeting, residents can also pick up an application to annex into Charleston.
In the state Supreme Court case, the court ruled the portions of James Island that the town was trying to incorporate were not properly connected. James Island Mayor Bill Woolsey says James Island may go for a fourth attempt to incorporate.
