What began as a missing person’s investigation turned into murder charges after Sumter police found a body inside the trunk of a car Wednesday night. Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of 34-year-old William Eric Robinson of Sumter. Robinson’s family had reported him missing all day and officials began a missing persons investigation.
Jacob Lee Terry, 26, and his sister, 28-year-old Jacolyn Jacobus were arrested. Terry is being charged with murder while his sister is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
A third person, 28-year-old Travis Bracey is being charged with obstruction of justice and investigators say Bracey gave wrong information intending to mislead police. Police say the family found the missing person’s car at an apartment complex in the Mallwood community and when officers looked inside, they found the body in the trunk.
Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock said Robinson died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
