Sumter County deputies have arrested two people after the body of a woman was body found in a dirt lane off Cane Savannah Road. The discovery was made Wednesday by a South Carolina Forestry Commission employee . The victim has been identified as Melissa Corley Haley, 33, of Sumter County. An autopsy performed this morning showed multiple stab wounds on her body.
Investigators have arrested Samuel George Henderson, 40, of Sumter County and charged him with murder. In addition, investigators have also charged Henderson’s wife Michelle Henderson, 39, also of Sumter County and charged her with “accessory after the fact of murder.” Both individuals were taken to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center where they are awaiting a bond hearing. More charges are expected.
