A local Tea Party leader has taken on more statewide responsibility as groups that share their ideology are getting more organized.
The South Carolina Patriots, which is affiliated with the national Tea Party Patriots and 9/12 groups, today announced Joe Dugan as one of their new state coordinators. Dugan is chair of the Myrtle Beach Tea Party and an active spokesman in state issues.
Tea Party voters in South Carolina are being courted by both state and national candidates and Dugan says, the South Carolina Patriots will be tracking them.
In an interview with South Carolina Radio Network’s Ashley Byrd, he says that the “hub” provided by the South Carolina Patriots does not take power from local Tea Parties, which fiercely defend their autonomy.
