The legal battle over the I-95 traffic cameras in Ridgeland continues. Ridgeland ended the program that used traffic cameras along a stretch of I-95 to catch unwanted speeders months ago. However, the legal fight continues.
The State newspaper of Columbia reports attorneys for the camera company are asking a federal judge to dismiss the ongoing lawsuit by the attorney representing three ticketed drivers.
Ridgeland’s attorney asked the judge to rule in the town’s favor because another judge already dismissed the driver’s tickets in June.
Earlier this year, state legislators passed a law that bans speeding tickets based on photographic evidence.
