South Carolina Boeing workers are assembling the first 787 Dreamliner out of Charleston. The completed aft section of the new 787 jetliner Boeing aircraft was wheeled into the North Charleston facility this week, ready for completion. This plane will mark the first completed Boeing Dreamliner actually made in Charleston.
The Charleston Post and Courier reports in the past, the aft sections were assembled in South Carolina, but then flown to Washington State to then be added to the planes. The aft section is the rear part of the aircraft and the last section needed to complete the final assembly of the plane.
Boeing also opened its new welcome center this week at its North Charleston plant.
