South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson has been hospitalized for a fever.
Wilson’s office said he had been admitted to Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, but did not say when it happened. Wilson represents the Second Congressional District, which stretches from Columbia to Beaufort.
He was supposed to tour his district this week for several town halls. However, his campaign cancelled at the beginning of the week, saying Wilson had contracted Lyme Disease from a tick while working in his yard.
Few details were given, although aides said he was being treated for a fever. “While the exact inectious agent has not yet been define, there is no evidence of serious complication and complete recovery is expected,” Chief of Staff Eric Dell said in a statement.
Wilson has represented the district since 2001, when he was elected to finish the term of Floyd Spence after Spence died in office.
