A time to remember is the theme of the “Salute the Troops” concert at Fort Jackson Saturday night. The concert is being held to both remember those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks a decade ago and to recognize the men and women in uniform who protect the country’s freedom.
The concert scheduled for 7pm at Hilton Field is sponsored by Fort Jackson and the non-profit organization Operation Homefront of South Carolina. Organization vice president Annette Suber says tickets are available at the gate for a donation of $10. Suber says the show’s headliner is an up-and-coming Kelly Pickler, who first gained fame as an American Idol finalist.
Suber says the donations from the concert will go toward helping service members and wounded warriors and their families
The program will feature speakers and other special guests. Suber says the program will give people a time to recognize the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and also remember how precious and valuable the freedoms are that American citizens enjoy.
The concert is free to all retired and active military and their families. Civilian adult guests will need to show a valid drivers license for entry into the fort. Drivers must also show their auto registration and proof of active auto insurance.
