Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies briefly shut down part of Interstate 85 Monday after stopping a rental truck.
Officers spotted the truck after receiving a bulletin from the Joint Terrorism Task Force. The FBI and other federal agencies in the task force have not said why they ordered the bulletin, which did include the truck’s license number.
Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said traffic on I-85 was stopped in both directions for 15 minutes as investigators and bomb sniffing dogs examined the inside.
“We got packages off the vehicle, had the bomb dogs check the packages,” Skipper said, “They opened up part of them and deemed them to be safe and we let the guy go on his way.”
Skipper said information about the truck would not be immediately available. He also did not say why authorities wanted it stopped.
