At her cabinet meeting Tuesday, Gov. Nikki Haley got monthly updates from her agency heads and gave them some homework:
“I would like for you to get to me within the next two weeks, the cell phone usage of your agencies. How many people use it, how many minutes, the cost of it, all of that. I also want to see car usage. How many have cars, how many miles they are driving, the cost of maintenance, gas, all of that, ” requested Haley. She also asked them to track internet usage.
She told her Cabinet, “We’re looking for savings, two were looking to make sure there’s no abuse in the system, and three as we go to a department of administration, keep in mind all of them should have the same policies for cell phone, for cars, for internet usage.”
Haley says, it’s “just good government.”
“It’s not that there’s anything wrong, it’s the fact that we have to look at this to make sure were being as accountable as we can be,” she said.
