Supporters will meet Thursday to try to create a new town of James Island–for the fourth time. At the meeting, supporters who want a new town of James Island to be separated from the city of Charleston, will find out the latest on incorporation efforts.
Although the city of Charleston won a recent court case, dissolving James Island, the town’s former mayor and “Free James Island” chairman, Bill Woolsey, told multiple media outlets they have enough signatures to launch a new effort to get the town back. Petitions are expected to be signed and sent to the Secretary of State’s office soon.
This week’s meeting is open to the public.
