The FBI and a South Carolina alliance of companies are holding a conference on how to better detect fraud–with an experienced con artist as a guest speaker.
If you’ve seen the movie “Catch Me If You Can” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, chances are you’re familiar with the name Frank Abagnale. Abagnale, who is speaking at the Citadel today, was one of the world’s most famous con artists in the 1960s. The AP reports he will speak on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents in a seminar being held by the FBI and the South Carolina InfraGard Member Alliance.
The conference will teach attendees on how to detect fraud in this high-tech world–specifically on white-collar crime. Instead of his past as a con man, Abagnale now goes around the country holding lectures on bank, corporation and government security.
