A Gaffney manufacturer has relocated its operations to Florida.
The Ipe Clip Fastener Company has moved its headquarters from Gaffney to Bradenton. According to a release from the Manatee County Economic Development Council, the company will hire 80 jobs in Florida over the next five years. Efforts to speak to a company spokesman were unsuccessful.
Ipe is small, only starting up in 2008. It manufactures a special type of deck fastener it patented that can be screwed into the deck so it is not visible to those standing on the deck. In a statement, the company said it moved to a new 70,000 square foot building in Manatee County so it could be closer to major shipping ports and airports. It also received $80,000 worth of incentives from the county.
Four employees moved with the company to Florida, but the rest of the jobs will be filled locally. The new building began operations in August.
