Republican presidential candidates are all gathered in New Hampshire’s Dartmouth College, for a debate tonight that will focus on the economy only. PostPolitics.com will stream it live. This one will be a good one to watch as Gov. Rick Perry needs to make good showing to regain ground and Herman Cain needs to make a good showing to boost his gain in popularity.
Also out of New Hampshire today, a new poll that puts Cain statistically in a dead heat with Mitt Romney in South Carolina. That does not surprise Cain’s only SC staffer, William Head, who describes the support here as a “tidal wave.”
Michelle Bachmann, though trailing in SC and nationally, is still all-in. She has named Ron Thomas as her senior advisor for South Carolina and Guy Short as national political director.
According to her campaign release: Thomas served as President George W. Bush’s appointee as deputy assistant secretary for policy in the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. AMong being active in the state party, Thomas was a delegate to the 2004 Republican National Convention, vice chairman of the South Carolina delegation, and the vice president of the South Carolina Republican Party Convention.
