The price of gasoline has experienced a modest drop from September. According to AAA Carolinas, the national average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas is just under $3.40 a gallon, a drop of 27 cents from a month ago. AAA Carolinas spokesman Tom Crosby says gasoline prices are slightly lower in North Carolina by two cents , and even lower by 23 cents in South Carolina.
Some areas of South Carolina have reported prices as low as $3.04 a gallon.
Crude oil prices declined until last week, which suggest that prices will level off , and then eventually rise in the near future. Crosby says the financial situation in Europe will continue to affect gasoline prices here in the U.S.
The national average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline of $3.40 is 67 cents higher than the price in October of last year.
